In 2014, this won first place in the National Geographic Russia Wild Nature contest. Elbrus is a sleeping volcano, the highest peak in the North Caucasus, as well as throughout Europe, at 5642m. I filmed a rare moment when this point of the Milky Way stands vertically on its vertices, and creates the illusion of an eruption of volcanic stars. I think this is, to some extent, symbolic!
The beauty of the night sky, Russia
The beautiful colouring of the night sky from a high altitude is almost beyond belief.
